Reading the Patient Care Guidelines
Labels which indicate the scope of practice can be found throughout the COG to reflect the minimum scope of practice required to perform an intervention, skill, or medication administration.
Green Text Boxes are standing orders designed for paramedics to initiate advanced care without contacting Medical Control and are considered the standard of care for all EMS providers working in the prehospital setting.
Orange Text Boxes are medications or procedures that are considered "Advanced Practice Guidelines" authorized as Paramedic/AEMT led guidelines that are considered to be optional and must be approved by the agency's Medical Director.
Yellow Text Boxes are guidelines that are to be utilized at the discretion of the agency and Medical Director. These guidelines are optional.
Gray Shaded Boxes containing Red Text are only to be performed with the approval of Medical Control.
